Anomaly Papers is a new publication from Collective Anomalies, an independent studio led by Louise Healy, working across design culture, critical theory and creative futures. Collective Anomalies runs panel talks, symposia and summer schools alongside its publishing, with a growing network of graduates, colleagues and collaborators. Anomaly Papers is the studio's first attempt at putting some of that thinking on paper. We're drawn to the anomaly - the thing that doesn't fit, as a place where the most generative thinking tends to happen.
Our first issue explores creative process: part essay, part visual interruption. Louise invited nine contributors: critical theorists, a creative technologist, photographers, a psychiatrist, an editor, academics and more, to respond to prompts about process. What came back provokes ideas around meaning, ritual, not-knowing, entanglement, boredom, reptation/repetition and God as the ideal client. Louise is a Creative Director, Trend Forecaster and Senior Lecturer in Creative Futures at University of the Arts London. She works at the intersection of creativity, consumption and identity and has spoken at LDF, DRS Conf, MIT and more.
