Shall we hunt for shells? by Sean Newton

  • PHOTO BOOK CAFE 4 Leonard Circus London, England, EC2A 4DQ United Kingdom (map)

Somewhere lost within the world of Indonesia's Secret Gili Islands, Sean Newton, an East London photographer specialising in 35mm film, uncovered and immersed himself in the warm, playful, hardworking lives of the local people. Focusing on interaction over documentation, this body of work offers a unique window into life above the vibrant coral, beneath the lush mountains and surrounded by joyous, smiling faces. With his signature colour palette and his trademark intimate compositions, the images embody the spirit and feeling that shine so brightly among the local people of these paradisiacal lands.

A story of human life where laughter and togetherness outweigh the hardships often faced.
