Project Statement:
Sakura: A Journey Through Japan is a Zine that has been two years in development. Oliver has travelled across Japan in the Summer and Spring to showcase how beautiful Japan is from it's neon lights glowing in Shinjuku to the calm serenity of Lake Kawaguchi overlooking mount fuji.
Artist Bio
Oliver Bryant has always been interested in photography but after COVID-19 he decided to pick up the camera again and re-explore the world travelling to Iceland, Norway, Greece, Japan, France and around the United Kingdom. In 2025 Oliver won his first photography competition with “Bear-Musement” a portrait of a brown bear. Oliver focuses on wildlife and landscape photography often spending a few hours waiting for “the right shot”. Neurodiverse (ADHD + Autism) Oliver observes the world in ways that neurotypical people may not observe at first, he particularly enjoys taking photos that remove people from the image to focus on the landscapes. Oliver uses both digital and analogue cameras and has built up a collection of historical cameras as well as modern mirrorless systems.
